Winter Blessings Ice Skates and Sled

Good morning!  It is cold here this morning thanks to a cold front that blew in this weekend.  We've gone from almost 90 degrees down to 50, so I'm enjoying the cooler temps while I can.  It will be a long hot summer before you know it!

There is a Spring into Christmas linky party going on this week over on the BYSHC blog, and I put this card together last night.  It's more wintery than Christmas, which is fine for this linky party.  All the entries must be Christmas, wintery, Yuletide, or Hanukkah themed.  I started by placing the Sparkles stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (use code HollyFan10 to save) over some blue cardstock and I spread some icy silver paste over the panel.  While the paste was drying, I die cut the sled and the ice skates (Spellbinders) and glued those together.  I also die cut the tiny snowflakes (Taylored Expressions) and stamped and cut the sentiment (Hero Arts).  After I assembled the sled, I glued the ice skates on top and added the tiny snowflakes and the sentiment.  I affixed the sled to the stenciled background with foam tape and then glued this panel to a white card base.

Elegant Season's Snowflake

Good morning!  I have another holiday card to enter into the BYHSC Linky Party today.  This time, I placed the Elegant Snowflake stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (use code HollyFan10 to save) over some bright turquoise cardstock and I spread some glittery white paste over the stencil.  After this dried, I put the turquoise panel into my MISTI and stamped the sentiment (Hero Arts) with a turquoise ink.  I trimmed this panel down and adhered it to a white card base.

Would you like to play along with this challenge?  Make a Christmas card (or winter, Hanukkah, Yuletide) and enter it into the linky party.  This challenge will be up through April 26, so you have plenty of time to make a card (or two, or three!).  Have a great day!!

Crackled Trees Holiday Wishes

Good morning!  I'm playing along in the Spring into Christmas challenge over on the BYSH Cardmakers blog, and this is my first entry for this fun week of Christmas cards.  I did something a little bit different today.  I recently bought some crackle paste and I wanted to see what it was like, so I spread it over the Forest of Trees stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (use code HollyFan10 to save) onto some watercolor paper.  After the stenciled panel was completely dry, I sprayed several different colors of Distress Ink spray over the entire panel and set it aside to dry.  The green spray settled into the cracks in the trees - so cool!!  I added a little extra variation to my background by splattering some white paint over it.  The watercolor paper really soaked up most of the white paint, but you can see it here and there.

I stamped the sentiment (Hero Arts) with brown ink and added a small deer (Hero Arts) that I stamped and die cut.  I also used a glittery red gel pen to add a tiny little dot to the deer's nose - so cute!  After I die cut the sentiment into a snowbank shape, I glued it to the bottom of my green panel and added the deer on the far right side.  The green panel was adhered to a white mat and then glued to a brown card base.

If you'd like to join the Spring into Christmas challenge, just make a Christmas card (or winter, Hanukkah, Yuletide...) and enter it into the linky party.  I can't wait to see all the fun holiday cards this week!!

Split Floral Squares Cards

Good morning!  Today I'm sharing two cards made with the same stenciled panel but with different colors and sentiments.  Which one do you like - the dark green floral on the white card or the white floral on the sage card?

I began both of these cards by working on the stenciled kraft panel.  I placed the new Square to Circle stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (use code HollyFan10 to save) onto some kraft cardstock and brushed some kraft ink over the stencil.  After I removed the stencil, I lightly stamped the panel with a crackled background stamp and splattered some white paint all over.  After the paint was completely dry, I cut the panel in half at a diagonal.  One half was glued to a white card and the other half was glued to a sage card.  I die cut the floral sprig from a dark green cardstock and a white cardstock and placed those on each card, and then added some stamped and cut sentiments.  The white card got some Opaque Iridescent Christmas Green Card Bling while the sage card got some Satin White Card Bling.  Isn't that Card Bling just yummy?

It is really fun to see how two cards can look so different just by changing up the colors.  Don't be afraid to stamp over your stenciled panels - that really adds a great faux texture to your backgrounds.  Have fun shopping at A Colorful Life Designs and remember to use the code, HollyFan10, to save some money when you check out.  Have a wonderful day!

Leafy Birthday Stripes

Good morning!  Today's card is a great neutral card that I can send to anyone for their birthday.  I pulled out some soft sage green cardstock and placed the Broad Swashes stencil from A Colorful Life Designs on top.  I brushed on some medium green ink and then removed the stencil.  After I glued this stenciled panel to a forest green card base, I cut the leafy frame (Taylored Expressions) from another piece  of forest green cardstock.  I also cut some vellum to the same size and adhered it behind the leafy frame.  The sentiment (Ink Blot Shop) was stamped with forest green ink onto a small scrap of sage green cardstock, trimmed down, and adhered to the vellum.  I carefully added some liquid glue to just the back of the frame and some of the leaves and placed it onto the stenciled panel.

That contrast of the straight lines with the rounded leaves is so fun!  Please feel free to use this code, HollyFan10, to save 10% off your entire order (excluding Master Creator Bundles) at A Colorful Life Designs.  The April release has some amazing geometric stencils which are great for making quick backgrounds for your cards.  Have fun shopping and have a great day!

Sarcasm is my Super Power

Good morning!  Today's card is super sparkly and full of color to help you wake up on this Monday morning.  I placed the new Pikes stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (use code HollyFan10 to save 10%) over a panel of white cardstock, and then I blended some pink, orange, yellow, and purple inks all over the stencil.  While the stencil was still in place, I spread some glitter paste over the whole thing.  Then I removed the stencil and set this panel aside to dry.

Meanwhile, I pulled out the new Sarcasm stencil which is full of fun and snarky sentiments and brushed some orange ink over the stencil onto some white cardstock.  Again, I left the stencil in place and spread some glitter paste over the orange ink, and then I removed the stencil and set this panel aside to dry.

When both panels were completely dry, I trimmed them down and adhered them to some purple cardstock.  The sentiment was adhered to the background and then I added some gorgeous Satin Matte Dark Purple Card Bling all over the card.  Check out that gorgeous sparkle in the picture below.

Remember, you can save an extra 10% off your entire order, excluding Master Creator Bundles, when you use this code, HollyFan10, at checkout.  This code is good on stencils, stamps, and Card Bling, so I hope you have fun shopping.  Happy Monday!

Wake Me Up When It's Friday

Good morning!  Who else didn't want to get up this morning??  Is it Friday yet??  LOL

These new snarky sentiment stencils from A Colorful Life Designs just make me laugh!  To make this card, I started by brushing some inks onto a white card - yellow at the top, pink in the middle, and blue at the bottom.  Then I went back and blended the colors together where they touched to get an orange and a purple.  It's a different kind of rainbow look since there's no traditional green on this one.  Then I placed the new Square to Circle stencil over the card and brushed on some black ink.  The sentiment from the Eye Rolling stencil was brushed with black ink onto some white cardstock and then I cut it out with a stitched rectangle die.  I added some foam tape to the back of the sentiment and adhered it to my stenciled card.

Check out all the great new snarky sentiment stencils at A Colorful Life Designs, and be sure to use this code, HollyFan10, when you check out.  You will save 10% off your entire order (excluding Master Creator Bundles), so have fun shopping for some stencils, stamps, and Card Bling.  I'm going to go back to sleep and wait for Friday.  Hee hee hee!!!
